A mix of silkpunk, gorgeous world-building, mythology, and gods. There are way too many characters, which might annoy many readers. I enjoyed the detailed historical retelling of the events leading to the formation of the Han dynasty. It was a solid first book, but like Dune, I’m just not invested enough in the world to finish the quartet.
